    שליח הסוכנות היהודית לארץ ישראל ברוד איילנד

    לחבריי, הישראלים ברוד איילנד,

    בשלהי חודש אוגוסט – מיד עם תום שירות המילואים שלי במבצע צוק איתן, נחתתי באדמת ארצות הברית. על רוד איילנד והחוף המזרחי, הספקתי לשמוע מספר שמועות, ביניהן - "מדינה קרה – אנשים קרים". לשמחתי הרבה, כל השמועות התגלו כבדיה. בחודשים האחרונים, נחשפתי לקהילה יהודית, ובתוכה ישראלית, חמה, מחבקת, תומכת וחזקה מאוד. למעשה, הרגשתי שאיני צריך "לעורר אהבה וכבוד וחיבה וקנאה לתוצרת הארץ". הכל כבר קיים. ממש אהבה שאינה תלויה בדבר – החל מנרגנסט הדרומית, ועד פוטאקט הצפונית המקום בה התחילה המהמפכה התעשיתית בארצות הברית .

    עם זאת, בתקופה האחרונה ישראל מהווה שחקן מרכזי בענייני השיח היום-יומי האמריקאי. ובין אם נרצה בכך או לאו - כולנו משמשים כנציגים או שליחים של ממש של מדינתנו. על כן, חשיבות אתר זה, כהנחת אבן פינה לחיבור, גישור וחיזוק קהילה ישראלית שמשוחחת, מתדיינת, לומדת ונפגשת יחד הינה יקרה מפז. לא נוכל לגדול, ללמוד ולהבין לעומק באם לא נשאל שאלות אחד את השני. כפי שאמרו חכמינו – "אין סכין מתחדדת, אלא בירך חברתה".

    בנימה זאת, בשם הסוכנות היהודית, וה- Jewish Alliance of Greater RI, אאחל לכולנו חג פסח כשר ושמח!
